PENTAX 01 STANDARD PRIME LENS FIRMWARE UPDATE VERSION 1.01

VERSION HISTORY

Version 1.01

  • Improved overall stability and general performance.

PREPARATION

  • You will need a blank, formatted memory card with a capacity of 32 MB or higher.
  • You will need your camera, and the lens you wish to update mounted to your camera.
  • You will need your camera's USB cable, or a memory card reader.
  • Make sure your battery is fully charged (or that you are using an optional AC adapter) to prevent power interruptions during the update process.

FIRMWARE UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Click the link below to download the zipped firmware file (FW_Q01Prime_101.zip). Click SAVE to save the download file to your computer's hard drive. Saving it to your desktop, for example, will make it easy to find after the download is complete. Please note: this download file is not the firmware update file itself, but a zip file that must be expanded in the following step.
  2. Next open the zip file, and extract the firmware update file itself (fwlq101.bin).
  3. You must now copy the firmware update file (fwlq101.bin) to your camera's memory card. When you connect the camera directly to your computer (or if you use a card reader), the memory card appears as a removable disk drive in the My Computer window. Make sure you are using a blank/formatted memory card, then drag & drop (or copy & paste) the firmware update file (fwlq101.bin) to your removable disk window, which is the camera's memory card. Please note: You must put the firmware update file (fwlq101.bin) directly onto the removable disk; it cannot be in any sub-folders. It must be on the top (or root) level of the removable disk.
  4. Now that you have copied the firmware update file (fwlq101.bin) to your camera's memory card, you are ready to install it. Make sure your camera is disconnected from the computer. Make sure that the memory card containing the firmware update file is inserted into your camera. Also, make sure you that you have adequate power in your camera, with a full battery charge or by using an optional AC adapter.
  5. Turn your camera on, press the MENU button, and look for the "Firmware Version Info" item in the camera's Setup menu (represented by a wrench icon). Highlight "Firmware Version Info" and press the right arrow. This will show you your current firmware version, as well as allow you to update the firmware to a new version.
  6. Highlight "Lens" and press the right arrow. Then, highlight "Start" and press the OK button to start the update for the lens firmware.
  7. If you have followed the above instructions precisely, the new firmware will install. You will see "NOW LOADING" followed by "COMPLETE" when finished. The camera will then automatically power down. This can take a couple of minutes, so be careful not to interrupt the process.
  8. You can verify your current firmware version by returning to the "Firmware Version Info" item in the camera's Setup menu.
  9. Remember, your memory card still has the firmware update file on it, so be sure to format your memory card to erase the firmware update file before taking pictures again.

PENTAX 02 STANDARD ZOOM LENS FIRMWARE UPDATE VERSION 1.01

How to check current version:
[1] Turn ON the camera.
[2] Press MENU button to display MENU screen.
[3] Press the four-way controller right to display [Set-up 3] menu screen.
[4] Select [Firmware Version Info] in the [Set-up 3] menu then press the four-way controller right.
The firmware version for camera and lens are displayed on the [Firmware Version Info] screen.(If lens is attached)

Preparation of update:
• Blank, formatted SD card (32MB or more)
• USB cable I-USB7
If you are copying the firmware update file to the SD card by connecting the camera directly to your computer.
• SD card reader or a computer with a SD card slot.
If you are copying the firmware update file to the SD card using a memory card reader / writer.
• Fully charged battery (D-LI68)
*Be sure to use fully charged battery (D-LI68)                                                          
If the camera turns off during updating due to lack of battery power, the camera will become inoperable. If this happens, a charge will be made for repairs even if within the warranty period.

Download the updated firmware file
• For Windows : q_v110.exe, self-extracting files
• For Windows/Macintosh : q_v110.zip, zip file

Updating Procedure
[1] Provide a formatted SD memory card for the update software.                                                 
The download file is self-extracting. The following file is extracted.
• Fwdc601p.bin: This is the updated firmware.                                                       
Copy the above Firmware file [fwdc601.bin] to the root directory in the SD card.                            
If your computer does not have a card slot, you can copy the firmware update file by inserting the SD card into your camera and then connecting the camera directly to your computer.
[2]Insert the D-LI68 battery into the camera and confirm the battery is full by battery level indicator then turn the camera off.
[3] Insert the update SD card (prepared in step 1) into the camera and close card cover.
[4] Turn the camera power on.
[5] Press MENU button to display MENU screen.
[6] Press the four-way controller right to display [Set-up 3] menu screen.
[7] Select [Firmware Version Info] in the [Set-up 3] menu then press the four-way controller right.  The firmware version for the camera and lens are displayed on the [Firmware Version Info] screen.
[8] Press the four-way controller right to display update screen. Press the four-way controller up to select [Start] and press OK button. 
*If firmware file is not saved to SD card correctly, this screen will not be displayed.
[9] Card access lamp will be blinked and display will be changed from [NOW LODING] to [COMPLETE].
*Do not turn OFF the camera while updating.
*Do not touch the lens unlock button while updating.
[10] Automatically turn OFF the camera. (Approx. 5 second)
[11] Remove the SD card from camera.                                                              
*Confirm the version of firmware with above [How to check version].

Caution                                                                                         
When updating is finished, the update SD card still contains the Firmware file.                                
If you want to use this card to take pictures, format the card by the camera to delete firmware file first.

SilkyPix Developer Studio 3.0.0.8

PENTAX is pleased to announce an update to the SilkyPix Developer Studio software included with select Pentax digital cameras. This update is available, free of charge, to current SilkyPix Developer Studio users.

PLEASE NOTE: This update is intended solely for owners of the SilkyPix Developer Studio software that ships with select PENTAX digital cameras. It is covered by the original software licensing agreement from your camera's bundled software. Downloading this update signifies agreement with the original software license.

PREPARATION

    MacOS-X: 10.4, 10.5, 10.6, 10.7.

INSTRUCTIONS

    1. click the download link below appropriate to your operating system, and save the download file to your computer's hard drive. For example, saving the download file to your desktop will allow you find it easily once the download is complete.
    2. Close other applications, then double click the download file to begin the update. Mac users may need to first unstuff the download file prior to installation.
    3. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the update.
    4. When the update is complete, click FINISH to exit the installer.
